ITT Exelis buys UK instrumentation-power provider
Acquired company will become part of Exelis Geospatial Systems division’s power-solutions business.
ITT Exelis has completed the acquisition of Applied Kilovolts Group Holdings Ltd., a provider of precision high-voltage power supplies for medical, scientific, pharmaceutical and food safety instruments.
Financial terms were not reported in the April 12 announcement.
The acquired company, which will become part of the existing power-solutions business within the Exelis Geospatial Systems division, produces components for global analytical instrumentation under the brand names Applied Kilovolts and Brandenburg.
ITT Exelis, of McLean, VA., will continue to market products under those brand names.
The acquisition supports a key growth strategy for Exelis, enabling the company to expand its position as a provider of image-chain solutions, from sensors to data to decisions. In this case, the deal ensures Exelis will be a supplier of key components for the high-growth medical and scientific instrumentation market, the announcement said.
Based in Sussex, England, Applied Kilovolts posted 2011 revenues of $13.2 million.
Last year ITT, of White Plains, N.Y., spun off its ITT Defense and Information Solutions business unit into ITT Exelis, the company announced in early April, with ITT Defense and Information Solutions President Dave Melcher serving as CEO of the new company.
