SAIC taps new exec to lead intelligence group

Science Applications International Corp. has promoted Tony Moraco to president of SAIC's intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance group, effective immediately, according to a company announcement on March 20.

He succeeds Stu Shea who was named SAIC chief operating officer on March 5.

Moraco, who had been executive vice president for operations and performance excellence, was responsible for enterprise-wide business support in information technology, facilities, security, program execution, procurement, shared services and operational initiatives, the March 20 announcement said.

In his new role, Moraco will lead nearly 13,000 analysts, scientists, engineers, and business professionals providing support for customers across the full spectrum of national security programs including cybersecurity.

He previously served as senior vice president and both general manager and deputy of SAIC's space and geospatial intelligence business unit, where he led the mission system solutions and services portfolio for Air Force space programs, National Reconnaissance Office, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and other elements of the intelligence community and Defense Department.

Prior to joining SAIC in 2006, Moraco worked at the Boeing Co., where he served as the deputy general manager of mission systems in the space and intelligence systems organization and also as director of homeland security technology integration.

Earlier he held senior corporate positions at Autometric Inc. and program management roles at TASC.

Moraco earned a bachelor's and master's degree in civil and environmental engineering from Virginia Tech.
