Former DHS secretary joins Noblis board of trustees
Michael Chertoff, who served as DHS secretary from 2005 to 2009, co-authored the Patriot Act.
Former Homeland Security Department Secretary Michael Chertoff has been elected to the Noblis board of trustees, the company announced.
Chertoff is co-founder and managing principal of the Chertoff Group, a global security advisory firm that provides strategic advice and assistance, risk management strategy, and business development solutions to commercial and government clients, the March 14 announcement said.
He also is senior of counsel at the law firm Covington & Burling LLP, and a member of its white collar defense and investigations practice group.
Chertoff served as DHS secretary from 2005 to 2009, during which time he co-authored the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001, commonly referred to as the Patriot Act.
Prior to his cabinet appointment, Chertoff was a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and from 2001 to 2003, he served as assistant attorney general of the United States, Criminal Division.
