Hewlett Packard Co. will strengthen government ID security at more than 90 federal agencies, commissions and boards as the result of a three-year, $47 million contract from the General Services Administration.
GSA has selected HP Enterprise Services to support the GSA Managed Service Office in overseeing the identities of more than 500,000 federal employees and contractors, according to a Feb. 27 HP news release.
The GSA’s USAccess program is a major provider of Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials to federal agencies.
Working under the governmentwide Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12) program, GSA and HP will deliver identity credentials to secure federal facilities, systems and applications.
As part of the agreement, the GSA Managed Service Office has implemented HP’s Assured Identity solution, which enables the USAccess program to manage the life cycle of PIV credentials by simplifying the sponsoring, enrolling, adjudicating and credentialing of applicants.
PIV credentials issued under the USAccess program are secure and reliable, and comply with government-established HSPD-12 standards.
