Accenture taps big names for federal advisory board

Accenture has picked a heavyweight group of former government officials as the members of its newly formed federal advisory board.

The board is comprised of:

• Retired Marine Corps Gen. James Cartwright
• Michael Chertoff, former Homeland Security Department secretary
• Former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle
• William Lynn, former deputy secretary of Defense
• Mary Peters, former secretary of Transportation

“We are constantly expanding our expertise to meet the changing needs of our clients,” Kay Kapoor, who leads Accenture’s federal business, said in a statement. “The advisory board members bring the right mix of federal experience to help Accenture continue to shape innovative solutions that are needed at a time when our government is facing unprecedented challenges.”

The advisory board will provide Accenture Federal Services with perspectives on the market, industry trends and business strategies. The group will serve in an internal advisory capacity and will meet quarterly.

“The U.S. federal market is the cornerstone of our global public service business,” said Stephen J. Rohleder, group chief executive of Accenture’s health and public service group.

The board will help with the creation of new offerings and capabilities, he said.
