BAE moves intell and security VP to SpecTal unit

BAE Systems’ vice president and deputy general manager of its Intelligence and Security sector is assuming new duties, according to a Dec. 8 company announcement.

Brian Sheridan will now lead the SpecTal business unit in Reston, Va.

SpecTal, formerly a part of L-1 Intelligence Services Group, provides government customers with specialized security and intelligence consulting, including intelligence analysis, engineering, operations support, training and IT development.

In February 2011, BAE Systems completed its $297 million acquisition of L-1 Identity Solutions’ Intelligence Services Group, which is comprised of SpecTal LLC, Advanced Concepts Inc., and McClendon LLC.

The business focuses on four key customer missions – intelligence and counterintelligence, homeland security, law enforcement and support to military operations.

ISG and its more than 1,000 employees were integrated into BAE Systems’ Intelligence and Security sector.

Sheridan’s 25-year career spans the private sector and government service, beginning at CIA in the 1980s.

Before joining BAE Systems in 2010, he spent almost 10 years with Bechtel Corp.

He served as assistant secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict in the 1990s.
