DHS names Spaulding to critical infrastructure post

Suzanne Spaulding is the new deputy undersecretary for DHS' National Protection & Programs Directorate, according to a news report.

The Homeland Security Department has named Suzanne Spaulding as the new deputy undersecretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate, according to a news report by Federal News Radio.

Spaulding most recently was principal with the Bingham Consulting Group and also has been general counsel for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and minority staff director for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

She replaces Phil Reitinger, who left in July for a position at Sony. Spaulding will oversee the US-VISIT program, infrastructure protection, the Federal Protective Service and the Office of Risk Management and Analysis.

Rand Beers, undersecretary for the directorate, also named Greg Schaffer as deputy undersecretary for cybersecurity on an interim basis, Federal News Radio said in its Sept. 22 report.
