SAIC provides engineering, logistics support to Navy office

Science Applications International Corp. has been awarded a five-year follow-on task order from the Navy that could be worth more than $45 million for engineering and logistics support.

The Naval Air Systems Command task order, awarded under the U.S. Navy's SeaPort-e contract, calls for SAIC to provide technical, engineering and logistics support for its Air Combat Electronics Program Office.

SAIC will support the office’s Communications and Airborne Networking team, which is responsible for concept, technology, and system development and demonstration, as well as the test and evaluation, production, and deployment of products and capabilities.

Specifically, the contractor will help plan and manage capabilities for naval aviation use, including communication of voice and data in support of tactical and strategic operations; communication and distribution of voice and data among aircrew; secure communications; and collaborative execution of missions across all relevant platforms, the company said in an announcement Aug. 25.

Work will be performed primarily at NAVAIR's Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Md.
