SAIC technical services helps Navy run silent, run deep

Science Applications International Corp. will support the Navy with advanced engineering and technical services under a three-year, single-award prime contract that could be worth more than $36 million if all options are exercised.

Under the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, SAIC will provide advanced engineering and technical services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division in support of the Navy Ship Signatures Directorate and signature silencing programs, according to an SAIC announcement dated July 20.

Services include system development support for software and hardware systems; installation, validation and operation of measurement systems; and strategic planning in support of signature measurement systems for naval ships and undersea systems at its acoustic measurement facilities, the announcement states.

The NSWC Carderock's Ship Signatures Department is responsible for the development of signature reduction technology to support Navy surface ship and submarine program goals. It also operates and maintains major acoustic research and development facilities.

The contract work will be performed primarily in Long Beach, Miss., and Poulsbo, Wash.
