General Dynamics in hiring mode to meet DOD contract requirements

General Dynamics Corp. has received a five-year Defense Department contract for IT enterprise network services that could be worth as much as $125 million.

Under the terms of the initial award, worth $83.6 million, General Dynamics Information Technology will provide the U.S. Special Operations Command with enterprisewide network support services to manage USSOCOM’s global enterprise IT infrastructure, according to a company announcement dated May 10.

As a result of this contract, General Dynamics plans to hire an additional 45 employees, the announcement states.

Services will include data, voice and video communications networks for USSOCOM headquarters, the service component commands, the Theater Special Operation commands and subordinate organizations.

The work will consist mostly of systems and network engineering, operations and maintenance and technology refreshes. GD also will operate the Global Network Control Center on behalf of USSOCOM, the announcement states.

General Dynamics will support 75,000 users with approximately 120,000 user accounts, on multiple networks while providing multi-level security for information assurance.

The majority of the work will occur at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., and Fort Bragg, N.C., with a large contingent of staff deployed overseas to provide in-garrison and in-theater operator support.
