XO chief resigns; search committee will find successor

Carl Grivner announced his resignation as chief executive officer, president and director of XO Holdings Inc., effective April 8. No explanation for his departure was given.

The board of directors is conducting an executive search to identify a new CEO of the broadband communications services and solutions provider to businesses, enterprises and government, a company statement today said.

XO will consider both internal and external candidates, the statement added. Grivner has agreed to assist the company during this transition period.

Until a permanent chief executive is selected, the board has established an executive committee to oversee operations that is comprised of Daniel Wagner, who will continue to lead XO's Business Services unit; Ernest Ortega, who will continue to lead its Carrier Services unit; and Laura Thomas, the company's CFO, who will oversee all corporate functions and other business units.

Grivner has served as CEO and president of XO Communications LLC since 2003. Before that he served as executive vice president and as COO of Global Crossing Ltd.

Grivner served in the Marine Corps from 1975 to 1978.
