CGI hires energy management expert for GSA account

 CGI Federal Inc. is strengthening its green ties to the General Services Administration, hiring Billy Mays, an expert in global energy management, sustainability and high-performance buildings, as a director on CGI’s GSA account.

At CGI Federal, a U.S. subsidiary of the Canadian CGI Group Inc., Mays will help deliver technology-driven energy management solutions that enable clients to increase efficiency, generate savings and promote long-term sustainability initiatives, a company announcement today said.

Mays has 20 years of experience in corporate real estate, design/build construction, and real estate development in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East.

Most recently, he orchestrated the creation of a new division for the Institute for Building Technology and Safety to provide integrated energy and sustainability solutions to federal, state and local clients.

Previously he helped establish an energy and sustainability practice for BAE Systems Inc., which focused on IT-based solutions for large portfolio real estate performance optimization and energy efficiency initiatives. Before that, Mays managed business development efforts for Lockheed Martin Corp. at the Energy Department’s Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington state.

Mays is a U.S. Green Building Council accredited Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, Green associate who also speaks frequently about high-performance facilities and how intelligent buildings achieve radical reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
