SAIC continues software, geospatial support for EPA
SAIC will provide software engineering and technical support to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Information under a task order that could be worth as much as $20 million.
Science Applications International Corp. will provide software engineering and technical support to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Information under a task order that could be worth as much as $20 million.
The Next Generation Geographic Information Systems Support task order, which has a four-month base and four one-year options, was awarded under EPA’s Software Engineering and Specialized Scientific Support contract, the company said in a Feb. 3 announcement.
The work will help integrate the EPA’s legacy Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications, helping increase efficiency, and improve the performance and capabilities of applications, the statement said.
Specifically SAIC will continue to provide outreach, data management, testing and debugging, and technical expertise, and also help develop GIS applications and enhance existing databases to accommodate new applications.
In addition, the company will support the adoption of an agencywide geospatial framework.
Work will be performed primarily in McLean, Va.
EPA’s Office of Environmental Information identifies and implements IT and management solutions that strengthen the agency’s ability to ensure the quality of information, and the efficiency and reliability of technology, data collection, exchange efforts, and access services.
SAIC, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
