Apptis scores $60M SEC Alliant award

Company will implement cloud solution to help agency improve its infrastructure.

Cloud computing services provider Apptis Inc. won a five-year, $60 million award from the Securities and Exchange Commission to support its technical environment.

Awarded under the General Services Administration’s Alliant acquisition vehicle, the SEC’s Office of Information Technology’s (OIT) IT Infrastructure Support Services contract calls for Apptis to work with the SEC as the agency realigns its infrastructure and operations with the strategic priorities of the organization and to ensure quality of delivery, customer satisfaction and service availability to OIT users.

Front and center in the implementation will be Apptis’ Insight management system. The system is based on the Program Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) best practices, and maps to established SEI CMMI Level 3 processes, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 Quality Management System and the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) V3 processes and sub-processes.

Application of Insight at SEC will “bring structure, control, accountability and quality to the performance of SEC ISS contract activities and tasks,” Apptis said in a statement.

“By providing a stable yet flexible technical infrastructure, Apptis will enhance the ability of the SEC to focus on its mission to oversee and regulate the U.S. securities markets for continued growth in our nation’s economy,” said Skip Nowland, Apptis president and chief operating officer.

Chantilly, Va.-based Apptis Inc. is ranked No. 35 in the 2010 Washington Technology 2010 Top 100 list of the largest government contractors.
