Boeing shuffles its IT organization leadership

Boeing Co. has named Kim Hammonds CIO and vice president of the company's IT organization.

Hammonds, who formerly was vice president of the Boeing Information Technology Infrastructure organization, replaces John Hinshaw, who has been named vice president and general manager of Boeing’s new Information Solutions division in Boeing Defense, Space and Security, according to an announcement released today by the defense giant.

Hammonds, 43, will report to John Tracy, Boeing's chief technology officer and senior vice president of the Engineering, Operations and Technology division.

As leader of the Information Technology division she will be responsible for all IT strategy, systems, infrastructure, architecture, processes and people companywide.

Hammonds joined Boeing in August 2008 as vice president of Boeing IT's Business Systems Organization, where she managed application, development and maintenance activities in support of Finance, HR, Internal Services, Sales/Marketing and Boeing Capital Corporation.

Before joining Boeing, Hammonds was director of Americas Manufacturing Operations at Dell Corp., where she was responsible for global systems development for service logistics, supply chain and quality systems. She was also responsible for IT production support for all 18 global manufacturing operations.

Before joining Dell in 2007, Hammonds spent 16 years at Ford Motor Company, where she held positions in product engineering, manufacturing, quality, marketing and IT. Hammonds has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Western Michigan University.
