Four picked for $96M Navy wireless support

The Navy has selected four contractors to compete for $96 million in wireless product and services tasks.

Four wireless carriers will compete for $96 million in wireless products and services tasks under a new Navy contract.

AT&T Mobility, Sprint-Nextel, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless will vie to furnish wireless services and devices to the military service under an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, the Defense Department said Dec. 17. The maximum value for all four contracts combined is $96 million.

The companies will perform the work in various locations throughout the United States. The contract is scheduled to end in June 2012.

The Navy Fleet and Industrial Supply Center in San Diego, Calif., is the contracting activity.
