Defense Acquisition University gets new president
Katrina McFarland is the new president of the Defense Acquisition University and will oversee new curriculum that reflects changing defense acquisition guidelines.
The Defense Acquisition University (DAU) announced Dec. 6 that Katrina McFarland is the institution's new president.
McFarland will be responsible for continuing and building on DAU efforts as a primary academic resource for 147,000 defense acquisition workforce personnel, according to a press release. She also will oversee developing new curriculum to reflect new defense acquisition initiatives and guidelines, including those set forth earlier this year by Ashton Carter, the Defense Department's acquisition chief.
“She comes with outstanding credentials and a wealth of experience at a very critical time for [DOD],” Frank Kendall, principal deputy under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, said in the DAU announcement.
McFarland most recently served as director of acquisition at the Missile Defense Agency.
