Raytheon buys computer engineering firm

Raytheon Co. has acquired Technology Associates Inc., a privately held provider of full life-cycle computer engineering to the intelligence community. Terms of the acquisition agreement were not disclosed.

Established in 1990, Technology Associates specializes in data extraction and analysis, digital media interception and exploitation, embedded system programming and information assurance services, a Raytheon statement today said.

The Reston, Va., company and its 110 employees are being incorporated into Raytheon’s Intelligence and Information Systems (IIS) business.

Technology Associates President Preston Harrelle joins Raytheon and will continue to lead business operations while taking on a broader cyber strategy role across the IIS product line, the statement said.

Technology Associates has and a proven track record of success in serving the intelligence community. Technology Associates extends Raytheon's decades of experience in cybersecurity, information operations and information assurance.

Raytheon, of Waltham, Mass., ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
