Under a Web support and hosting services contract worth $53 million, GlobalNet Services will provide Web content management, website development and support services for the FDA’s external and internal websites and Web applications.
This includes project management support in the planning, design, development, testing and deployment of Web content management system upgrades and releases.
As part of this project to provide accurate, timely and useful information to consumers and government organizations, GlobalNet Services will provide intelligence, infrastructure and technical expertise while supporting agency implementations and enhancements of its Web content management systems.
Earlier in the week, GlobalNet was awarded a $14 million contract to support the FDA’s Unified Registration and Listing System (FURLS).
This five-year contract supports federal initiatives that require all facilities that manufacture, process or hold FDA-regulated products to be registered with the FDA. GlobalNet Services will maintain the day-to-day operations of the FURLS project, including the development of tools to deal with growth as the FDA’s user base increases.
Late last month, the company won the FDA Electronic Laboratory Exchange Network Operations, Maintenance and Development, Modernization and Enhancement contract, also worth $14 million.
The secure, integrated network facilitates the exchange of information among federal, state and local food safety agencies. This contract also incorporates the National Biosurveillance Interface System Electronic Laboratory Exchange Network Interface System, or eLEXNET/NBIS.
In addition to providing an exchange of information between laboratories at all levels of government, the network also facilitates the transfer of biological, chemical and radiological information between the Food Emergency Response Network and the Homeland Security Department through the National Biosurveillance Interface System.
As a prime contractor, GlobalNet, of Rockville, Md., is teamed with Booz Allen Hamilton to assume responsibilities for the eLEXNET/NBIS system.
