Stanley will help HHS build out health care info network

Stanley Inc. will provide support services to the Health and Human Services Department’s Office of National Coordinator under a two-year time-and-materials contract valued at $6 million.

The Health Information Technology and Economic and Clinical Health Act of 2009 (HITECH Act) set forth a plan for advancing the appropriate use of health information technology to improve the quality of care and establish a foundation for health care reform, according to  a company announcement released today.

Under this award, Stanley will help the HHS Office of National Coordinator enroll participants into the Nationwide Health Information Network Exchange, including issuing digital certificates, updating network directories and providing help desk support.

ONC has been developing the Nationwide Health Information Network for several years, defining the standards, specifications, implementation guidelines, policies and operational infrastructure that will create a secure exchange of interoperable health information in the United States.

The Nationwide Health Information Network is viewed as the way to improve quality care, expedite care coordination and reduce costs achievable, which are the priorities outlined in the HITECH Act, the Stanley announcement states.

The award falls under Stanley’s Chief Information Officer - Solutions and Partners 2 Innovations contract with the National Institutes of Health’s Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center.

The Nitor Group Ltd. and 5am Solutions Inc. are subcontractors on the Stanley team.
