DynCorp board chairman takes on new leadership roles
Steve Gaffney, chairman of DynCorp International’s board of directors, will also become CEO and president effective Aug. 25, replacing current CEO and President Bill Ballhaus, who is resigning.
Steve Gaffney, chairman of DynCorp International’s board of directors, will also become CEO and president effective Aug. 25, replacing current CEO and President Bill Ballhaus, who is resigning.
Ballhaus, who joined the company in May 2008, will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors as vice chairman. He also has agreed to become a strategic adviser to DI’s new parent company, Cerberus Capital Management L.P.
Gaffney joins DynCorp from IAP Worldwide Services Inc., where he has served as CEO since January 2009.
Gaffney has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the defense industry. In addition to his experience with IAP, he served as senior vice president of ITT Corp. and president of ITT Defense Electronics and Services.
He was responsible for establishing ITT’s strategic direction as well as its financial and operating performances. Under his leadership, the company grew more than 60 percent as a result of his organic and acquisition strategies.
Before joining ITT, Gaffney worked at Litton Industries, AlliedSignal and Smith Industries.
He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.
