Alliant tops $1 billion in 14 months of business

Find opportunities — and win them.

The General Services Administration's Alliant governmentwide acquisition contract outpaces its predecessors, ANSWER and Millennia, in overall sales, according to sales figures.

The General Services Administration’s Alliant information technology contract reached a milestone in June, with its task and delivery orders topping $1 billion, according to figures provided by GSA.

GSA made 52 awards on its Alliant governmentwide acquisition contract between May 1, 2009, and July 1, 2010; the awards have an estimated value of $1.084 billion, the numbers show.

Alliant is on a strong pace compared to the first 14 months of GSA's two now-expired GWACs. The ANSWER, or Applications ’N Support for Widely-diverse End-user Requirements, GWAC made 389 awards, valued at roughly $457 million, from Dec. 30, 1998, to Feb. 28, 2000. GSA’s Millennia GWAC awarded 16 orders, valued at roughly $944 million, between April 28, 1999, and June 28, 2000, according to the figures.

Although each of the older contracts had lower totals than Alliant in their early months, combined they logged $1.4 billion.

The ANSWER GWAC expired June 2009. Millennia expired in October 2009. The Alliant and Alliant Small Business GWACs replaced the two. They began taking orders in early 2009, following a string of lawsuits filed regarding the initial contract awards.

The figures do not include the sales from Alliant Small Business GWAC, which has had approximately $400 million in sales since 2009.

"Alliant achieving the $1 billion mark demonstrates GSA's leadership and long history in making government work for America," said Steve Kempf, acting commissioner for GSA's Federal Acquisition Service. "Our customers know that when they come to GSA, they receive not only the best value but also the critical expertise needed to help them achieve their missions. That is why we have a robust pipeline of pending work under Alliant that we will only grow into the future."
