Guident will boost efficiency of Patent Office data warehouse

Guident has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to provide information technology support under a five-year contract that has a potential value of between $17 million and $22 million.

The blanket purchase agreement, issued by USPTO’s Office of Financial Management Systems, calls for the consulting and systems engineering contractor to maintain and enhance the agency’s Enterprisewide Data Warehouse.

The EDW is an automated information system that provides access to data and supports the decision-making activities of USPTO managers and analysts, according to a Guident announcement released today.

The data warehouse helps answer strategic and tactical business questions using quantitative enterprise information. It also provides a tool to analyze business processes, resource use and needs, and other facets, the statement added.

Under the terms of the agreement, the contractor based in Herndon, Va., will provide the professional support services necessary to operate and maintain the EDW, with a focus on making the system more efficient and valuable to the USPTO.

“The USPTO is entirely funded by user fees and must maintain structured financial management processes to enable the most effective use of its resources,” said Dan Ackerman, executive vice president and partner at Guident, in the statement.

Last month, Guident won a two-year task order that could be worth as much as $8 million to provide emergency management assistance to the Environmental Protection Agency.
