TASC finds new cybersecurity chief at former parent company

TASC Inc. has hired Larry Strang to head the company’s cybersecurity programs.

Strang joins TASC from Northrop Grumman Corp., where he most recently served as vice president and director of Northrop’s Cybersecurity Group. He previously was the company’s NSA account manager.

“As part of his leadership responsibilities, Strang will lead the development of TASC’s Cyber Long Range Strategic Plan, identify new and support ongoing cyber-based franchise programs, and explore new opportunities in the cybersecurity business,” said Joe Dodd, vice president of business development, in a May 10 company announcement.

Before working at Northrop, Strang was vice president for operations at Science Applications International Corp.

A retired Air Force colonel with 31 years of service and an alumnus of the Air Force Academy, Strang earned a graduate certificate in Information Systems Technology from The Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from Central Michigan University.

TASC previously was a unit of Northrop Grumman’s Information Systems sector. It was sold in 2009 to equity groups General Atlantic and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Co. for $1.7 billion to meet new federal regulations on organizational conflict of interests.

The Chantilly, Va., company returned to its original status as an independent company. The result is a company freed to specialize in systems engineering, technical assistance and other services to the Defense Department and intelligence community.
