Harris' new cyber center cloaked in secrecy

Harris Corp. is building what it calls the nation’s first cyber integration center to provide government and commercial customers with a specialized managed hosting service in a trusted environment.

The new Harris Cyber Integration Center will be located in a recently acquired 140,000-square-foot facility in the mid-Atlantic region, according to a company announcement today.

Harris officials won’t disclose the center’s precise location yet for security reasons, saying only it will be within driving distance of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

The company expects it to be fully operational by the end of the year.

The center will provide customers with an integrated offering of infrastructure, managed security and tailored applications and services – all provided as a secure total solution.

It will also feature a trusted technology infrastructure, including a tested and accredited environment, supply chain integrity and advanced persistent threat deterrence.

Additionally, by offering industry-tailored applications and services on a tiered structure, customers will benefit from both flexibility of service and superior value, the announcement stated.

Ensuring optimized performance and ultra-high reliability will allow our customers to be more effective in accomplishing their missions, said Dale Meyerrose, vice president and general manager of Harris Cyber Integrated Solutions, in the statement.

“This first-of-its-kind center leverages Harris’ extensive cyber capabilities to solve our customers’ evolving cyber challenges while at the same time adding value through tailored applications and services,” he said.

Harris operates some of the nation’s largest secure, mission-critical networks, including the ultra-reliable Federal Aviation Administration Telecommunications Infrastructure.

Harris, of Melbourne, Fla., ranks No. 13 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
