SAIC task order will triage Walter Reed IT services

Science Applications International Corp. will provide information technology services to Walter Reed Army Medical Center under a contract that could be worth $26 million if all options are exercised.

Under the task order from the Walter Reed Directorate of Information Management, SAIC will provide comprehensive IT services, including help desk support, systems administration, information assurance and project management, according to a March 25 company announcement.

The company will also provide network and infrastructure support -- including maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls and intrusion-prevention devices -- monitor networks, perform capacity planning and daily troubleshooting, and provide after-hours on-call support.

SAIC, which has provided IT services to the Army medical facility for nine years, will also oversee, implement, and monitor security policies for firewalls and other security devices.

The task order was awarded under the Army’s Information Technology Enterprise Solutions-2 Services contract.

SAIC, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
