Platinum strikes gold with Energy Department award

Platinum Solutions Inc. will provide information technology and engineering support services to the Energy Department under a five-year contract worth $48 million.

The award calls for Platinum Solutions and its team of subcontractors to assist DOE’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), according to a company statement released today.

Under the terms of the contract, Platinum Solutions, of Reston, Va., will support a wide range of IT services necessary to operate the multilocation, multifunction NETL facilities in Albany, Ore.; Fairbanks, Alaska; Morgantown, W.Va.; Pittsburgh; and Houston.

Support services will include cybersecurity, network engineering, systems design and integration, enterprise architecture, enterprise systems support, and help desk support, according to the company's news release.

NETL is the only government-owned and -operated national lab dedicated to energy research and development from domestic energy resources, the company said.

The lab conducts research in energy technologies, analyzes energy systems for efficiency and optimization, and provides policy-makers with information and energy technology guidance to advance the national, economic and energy security of the United States.

Platinum's subcontractors include Ultra Electronics, ProLogic (a wholly owned subsidiary of Ultra Electronics of the United Kingdom); Performance Results Corp.; and d3 Services Ltd.
