Open government could lead to open-source textbooks
An Education Department dialogue is looking at the possibility of creating open source textbooks.
A post on the White House blog looks at some of the citizen-engagement efforts federal agencies are doing as required by the Open Government Directive.
One I found interesting is a dialogue from the Education Department that is examining the concept of open-source textbooks and other lesson materials.
According to Education Department officials, “Current textbooks are expensive, and not really great. Creating free textbooks that schools could modify for their own purposes would raise the bar.”
