Open gov dashboard kicks off

The open government dashboard was launched Feb. 6 as part of the White House’s Open Government Directive.

This initial version of the dashboard is simple: It has a list of the 29 agencies and departments that participate in the open government effort. Each organization is evaluated in four areas:

• Making high-value data available.
• Data integrity.
• Publishing an open Web page.
• Performing public engagement.

The organizations also receive an overall rating on meeting the requirements under the Open Government Directive. So far, the dashboard shows nearly all the agencies and departments meeting expectations in all categories.

The Council on Environmental Quality is one of a handful of organizations that do not have a perfect score, receiving “Progress Toward Expectations” for high-value data and data integrity.
