L-3 to support Marine Corps combat training

An L-3 Communications Corp. unit will furnish program and acquisition support to the Marine Corps for live and simulated training operations under a new task order.

An L-3 Communications Corp. unit will furnish program and acquisition support to the Marine Corps for live and simulated training operations under a one-year, $11.7 million task order.

Under the task order, L-3 Services Inc. will provide the Marine Corps Program Manager for Training Systems with acquisition, logistics and administrative support for combat training systems, the Defense Department said Feb. 4. The work is being done under a previously awarded firm-fixed price contract.

The agreement covers assistance with urban combat training systems, range instrumentation, range training devices and simulations, and hybrid live and simulated training environments, DOD said.

L-3 Services will perform program, logistics and administrative support necessary to tailor the products and systems to training requirements as they pertain to training methodologies and technical documentation.

The Program Manager for Training Systems, based in Orlando, Fla., supports the Marine Corps Systems Command and Training Education Command. The work will be done on-site.

L-3, of New York, ranks No. 8 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
