From one situation room to another

CNN will broadcast yesterday's Cyber ShockWave simulation exercise in which former senior officials played cabinet officials grappling with a fast-developing, serious national security and economic crisis originating from a malicious smart phone application.

The cyber threat quickly became a crisis as the problems spread from smart phones to the Internet. Subsequently, the country’s financial and energy infrastructure became enveloped, as the former officials – from a mock White House Situation Room in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel – tried to craft the president’s response to the crisis.

CNN’s coverage of the mock cyber emergency and the situation room simulation that was organized by the Bipartisan Policy Center was announced by Wolf Blitzer, anchor of the network’s “The Situation Room” show.
