Labor Department launches its open-gov Web site

When the Labor Department made six “high-value” datasets available to the public under the White House’s Open Government Directive, the agency also launched its open-government Web page.

By Feb. 6, each agency must create an open-government Web page named www.[agency].gov/open to serve as the gateway for agency activities related to the directive.

The Labor Department’s page is fairly simple and has the same look and feel as the rest of the agency’s Web site.

The open-government information is presented in a chart with two main columns: Data Description and Available Formats.

For example, the "OSHA Data Initiative – Establishment Specific Injury and Illness Rates" dataset has data available in CSV or HTML format.
