SAIC gains $120M NASA extension to cover recompete period

Science Applications International Corp. has won a 14-month contract extension from NASA for integration and information technology services that could be worth more than $120 million.

The space agency’s extension of the Unified NASA Information Technology Services contract, or UNITeS, is intended to allow for the completion of the recompete activities for NASA’s agencywide IT infrastructure integration program, according to a NASA statement dated Dec. 3.

Under the extension, SAIC will provide IT services and integration support for NASA Integrated Enterprise Management Program, or IEPM, administered by the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.

The contract also calls for additional IT services at the center until follow-on contracts are awarded.

The contract extension began Dec. 1, 2009 and would end Jan. 31, 2011, if all six one-month options are exercised.

The UNITeS contract, which began Jan. 1, 2004, has a total value of approximately $1.31 billion, including this extension, NASA said.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
