SRA wins $4.4M Marines RFID supply-chain contract

SRA International Inc. will provide supply-chain tracking technology to the Marine Corps Systems Command under a new $4.4 million contract, company officials announced.

The Marines’ Passive Radio Frequency Identification Infrastructure Support and Sustainment contract covers has one base year and four option years.

The USMC will use pRFID as a part of a suite of automatic identification technologies to accurately and automatically collect data. The technology will be used in the supply chain to improve the management and execution of logistics within the Marine Expeditionary Forces at Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Camp Pendleton, Calif.; and Okinawa, Japan, according to SRA.

SRA will provide pRFID infrastructure support modifications, sustainment and follow-on services, and standardized pRFID solutions. The company also will provide project management; system maintenance support and sustainment services; system engineering and enhancements; and training.

The goal of the project is to deliver a secure, reliable and functional pRFID system. Then the technology will be used to evaluate the operational value of pRFID for in-transit, in-storage and in-repair supplies within the Marine’s enterprise, SRA officials said.

“Our team will help the Marine Corps fully characterize the requirements and benefits of pRFID, and better understand how to translate this technology into improved service for the warfighter,” said SRA Vice President of Enterprise Logistics Solutions George Batsakis.

The SRA team includes GlobeRanger and RFID Global Solution, Inc.
