SAIC tasked with new engineering services at Redstone Arsenal

Science Applications International Corp. will provide additional professional and engineering services to the Army under a five-year task order that has a ceiling value of $848 million.

The single-award indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity task order from the Army Aviation and Missile Command calls for SAIC to provide professional and engineering support services to the Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center’s Software Engineering Directorate at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Ala.

The facility supports the acquisition, research and development, and sustainment of some of the nation’s most sophisticated weapons systems. It also oversees the Army’s policies and practices regarding software reuse, metrics, post-deployment support, process improvement, computer resource margins analysis, and risk management, SAIC officials said.

Under the task order, the company will lead a team of 238 subcontractors and provide life cycle systems and software engineering support as required to help the Army integrate the technology and equipment needed for continued mission success, the officials said.

The task order was awarded under the command's Expedited Professional and Engineering Support Services contract.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
