Ernst & Young acquired Capital City Technologies, a management and technology-consulting firm dedicated to serving the government sector, Ernst & Young officials announced today.

The transaction closed on Oct. 30, according to Ernst & Young.  Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Capital City Technologies will become part of the government and public-sector group of Ernst & Young’s Advisory Practice.

Ernst & Young officials plan to integrate the firms' complementary services in the areas of program management, financial services, enterprise resource planning, technology, compliance, risk management and business performance improvement, an Ernst & Young announcement said.

“Making strategic investments in the government and public sector is a high priority for our organization,” said Deborah Kissire vice chair and Mid-Atlantic managing partner of Ernst & Young.

This acquisition comes on the heels of a report that mergers and acquisitions have dropped in 2009 as compared to 2008.
