Harris works on Air Force infrastructure support team

Harris Corp. will provide technical and support services to the Air Force under a three-year contract that has a potential ceiling value of $7.5 million.

Harris, one of a trio of subcontractors, is working with Computer Sciences Corp. on the Applications Infrastructure and Systems Support (AISS) contract for the Air Force Air Mobility Command’s command and control systems.

The command and control structure includes systems and programs within the Advanced Computer Flight Plan, the Commercial Operations Integrated System, the Global Air Transportation Execution System, the Global Command and Control System, and Global Decision Support.

Harris will lead architecture planning and design, information assurance, and network support. The award also calls for Harris to provide information assurance, development testing, configuration management and training, according to a company announcement.

The AISS contract is designed to ensure that U.S. critical military transportation systems are efficient, secure and provide the nation’s military forces with the support they need in today’s military environment, said Mike Deloney, vice president of Air Force programs at Harris IT Services.

Harris is joined by subcontractors Tri-Core Industries Inc. and Northrop Grumman Corp. on the award.

Harris, of Melbourne, Fla., ranks No. 13 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
