Army creates office to rework Future Combat Systems

The Army has established an office to support current and future acquisition programs, with a focus on the ground combat vehicle, brigade combat team initiatives and network modernization.

The Program Executive Office Integration will support current and future acquisition programs under the restructuring of the Future Combat Systems program.

PEO Integration is expected to assist in developing improved, modernized capabilities in areas such as identifying threats from standoff positions; gathering and disseminating real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance information down to the soldier level; removing soldiers from potential danger by using unmanned systems; and providing brigade combat teams with a 40-kilometer precision-strike, all-weather capability.

"It is important for the Army to establish a new PEO," said Dean Popps, acquisition executive and acting assistant secretary of the Army for acquisition, logistics and technology, in a statement. "We are moving forward with efforts to improve our ability to equip brigade combat teams and to modernize the Army consistent with the Army force generation model. PEO integration will enable better portfolio management."
