Agilex adds Chapman as VP to boost health care sector

Agilex Technologies Inc. is seeking to strengthen its health care sector with the appointment of Melissa Chapman to the newly created position of vice president for health solutions.

Chapman will lead the company’s health technology programs and manage its strategic and growing relationship with the Health and Human Services Department (HHS), according to a company announcement made Oct. 14.

In her new role, Chapman will oversee the Chantilly, Va., company’s programs in HHS and will serve as a senior adviser to the department’s leadership.

In addition, she will provide leadership for Agilex’ s public health strategy and industry presence, and also counsel clients of the company’s in-house CIO consultancy, Agilex Advisory Services.

Chapman joins Agilex from General Dynamics Information Technology, where she led health information technology initiatives as a vice president in GDIT’s Civilian and Homeland Security Solutions division.

Previously, Chapman served as a senior vice president and director for the Health Solutions sector at Apptis Corp. And as a principal with Booz Allen Hamilton, she led health information technology programs in the federal government and life sciences sectors.

Chapman also has served as chief information officer at HHS and as acting CIO at the Food and Drug Administration.

While at HHS, Chapman spearheaded the establishment of the Federal Health Architecture as part of the President’s Management Agenda. The FHA is used to guide the federal government’s participation in key health care initiatives, such as the Nationwide Health Information Network. She was also recognized for leading the department’s IT consolidation efforts.

At the FDA, Chapman led the development of enterprise systems for improving drug safety and she partnered with industry to develop an e-commerce infrastructure to streamline the review of new drugs and biologics.
