American Systems to support Navy security initiatives

American Systems Corp. will provide technical and security services to the Navy under an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract with a maximum value of $23.9 million.

The award calls for the contractor to provide technical and security engineering services for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific, including systems engineering, technical, managerial and logistics support; certification and accreditation and information-assurance tasks in support of secure computer and network operations.

Specifically, American Systems will provide specialized security engineering services for architecture design, commercial-off-the-shelf and government-off-the-shelf security product analysis and evaluation.

The Chantilly, Va., company also will assist with product integration and implementation, user training and certification, and specialized networking configuration and maintenance support for security products used in naval networks.

Also, American Systems will support integrated circuit design and testing for analog, digital and radio frequency applications.

The work will also include developing, implementing and testing computer network defense measures, improving wireless computing security, creating and maintaining cross domain solutions, system security and certification related testing and risk and vulnerability assessments.

Work under the contract, which has one five-year base period and four nine-month options, will be performed at American Systems’ facility in San Diego, and at government ship and shore facilities worldwide. The base period of performance is from Aug. 7, 2009 through Aug. 6, 2014.

Most recently American Systems announced that it had won a $20 million contract from the Agriculture Department to upgrade its communications system.
