Northrop unit will provide geospatial solutions to Navy

3001 International Inc., a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Corp., will assist the Navy with geospatial solutions under a five-year contract with a potential total value of $15 million.

The award, from the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic, calls for 3001 International to provide geospatial services and solutions that will improve the Navy’s planning, asset management, training, infrastructure and homeland defense capabilities at home and abroad.

The contractor, based in Fairfax, Va., will provide NAVFAC with geographic information systems, professional surveying, and mapping services, including data acquisition and feature development using a variety of remote sensing techniques.

Additionally, 3001 International will provide various GIS services such as system development, training, technical writing, GPS feature development, data conversion, space management, GIS application development, and other geospatial services as they pertain to Navy IT systems.

“3001 International has specialized experience in the development of geospatial information system applications as well as extensive knowledge of the Navy’s facilities management programs and standards,” said John Olesak, vice president of integrated intelligence at Northrop Grumman’s Information Systems.

Work on the contract will take place in Gainesville, Fla.; Peachtree City, Ga.; and Huntsville, Ala.

Northrop Grumman acquired 3001 International in October 2008, and the company is now part of Northrop Grumman’s Information Technology sector.
