Apriva wins DISA approval to upgrade wireless system
Apriva will provide the Defense Information Systems Agency with hardware, software licenses and other information technology services under a five-year, $17 million contract.
Apriva, a Scottsdale, Ariz., manufacturer of high-security wireless solutions, will provide the Defense Information Systems Agency with hardware, software licenses and other information technology services under a five-year contract worth $17 million.
According to the terms of the contract, Apriva will provide software licenses, network equipment, third-party software, and outsourced network and help desk support for DISA’s secure wireless data and e-mail infrastructure.
The contract includes implementation and licensing of a second Apriva Gateway, the continuing license of the first Primary Apriva Gateway, wireless network services, data center services, and around-the-clock outsourced operational management and help desk support for DISA’s entire Apriva Private Gateway infrastructure.
The Apriva Gateway infrastructure, called the Multi-Carrier Entry Point by DISA, provides the secure wireless and data center infrastructure for the Secure Mobile Environment Portable Electronic Device.
Apriva licenses its private gateway technology to customers who utilize Apriva’s various mission-critical messaging applications. The Apriva Gateway supports geo-diverse failover for wireless devices certified for up to Secret-level classified email and data communications, providing a new generation of alternatives to RIM BlackBerry® units.
