NCI boosts Air Force transport network in Hawaii

The task order calls for the company to support the Air Force’s Combat Information Transport System (CITS) Program Office.
NCI will provide an integrated, high-bandwidth, information transport capability to support current and future mission requirements at Hickam AFB, Hawaii, and the local Hawaii Air National Guard sites.
The Air Force is transforming its networks from MAJCOM-centered islands to secure, unified, consolidated enterprise-centric networks as part of the service's part of the Global Information Grid, NCI officials said.
The CITS work will help the Air Force meet its goals by upgrading and establishing the communications infrastructure for a centralized command and control capability and core information technology services.
This competitively awarded task order is new work for NCI and was awarded under the Network-Centric Solutions contract vehicle. Work is expected to begin in August.
NCI, of Reston, Va., ranks No. 72 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
