Former Harris exec named as chief operating officer at Applied Signal Technology

Former Harris Corp. executive Mark Andersson has joined Applied Signal Technology Inc. as chief operating officer.

Andersson will be responsible for AST’s day-to-day operations, thus enabling the AST President and Chief Executive Officer William Van Vleet to focus more keenly on the company’s long-term strategic and financial development, company officials said today.

Andersson most recently was vice president of the proprietary programs business area of Harris Government Communications Systems Division. He has more than 26 years’ experience in technology development and implementation for the defense, intelligence and law enforcement communities in the areas of signals and imagery intelligence and information management applications.

Over the past decade, he has help various leadership positions and overseen strategic planning and operations for a number of significant business lines serving the intelligence community.

AST, of Sunnyvale, Calif., is a provider of advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance products and systems.
