CACI International Inc. will provide duty and watch desk operations for the National Protection and Program Directorate of the Homeland Security Department under a task order worth $14.2 million.
The award calls for CACI to provide NPPD with experienced personnel around the clock to manage duty desk and watch desk operations. The contractor will enhance communications by managing, processing and coordinating the flow of information across DHS and with Protective Security Advisers in the field, company officials said.
The new work will support national infrastructure protection while expanding CACI’s presence in DHS with wide-ranging mission support, the officials said.
Future support could include watch desk responsibilities monitoring events such as natural disasters and possible terrorist incidents. Operation support services might include generating reports and formulating briefing materials and the analysis of national training exercises for DHS, state and local government employees, they added.
NPPD is charged with supporting DHS’ risk-reduction mission through timely and effective responses to both natural disasters and threats caused by human elements.
The task order stems from a five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract worth a maximum of $94 million.
CACI International, of Arlington, Va., ranks No. 20 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
