SAIC wins $284M technical services contract with Joint Forces Command

Science Applications International Corp. will provide engineering and technical support to the U.S. Joint Forces Command under a five-year contract that has a ceiling value of $284 million.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract calls for SAIC to provide research, development, engineering and technical services for the command’s Joint Concept Development and Experimentation Directorate, company officials said.

SAIC will also conduct studies and simulations, and provide concept definition, research, analysis and technological assessments. It will perform the work primarily in Suffolk, Va.

The directorate coordinates Defense Department efforts to explore how the future military can operate successfully in complex, ever-changing and uncertain environments. It runs exercises, undertakes technology development and works with the military to develop enhanced concepts of operations.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
