Keane picks up a New York piece of BearingPoint

Find opportunities — and win them.

Keane's acquisition of BearingPoint will strengthen the company's state and local government business.

The dismantling of BearingPoint Inc. continues with the sale of some remaining portions of its public services business to Keane Inc.

Keane is picking up BearingPoint’s New York City practice, a move that will strengthen Keane's state and local business, company officials said. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

BearingPoint is being sold off in pieces as part of its plan to emerge from bankruptcy.

Deloitte bought the bulk of the government business in May for $350 million.

For Keane the pick up of BearingPoint’s business in New York comes on the heels of the company winning a new systems integration contract there. “The impressive people coming from BearingPoint will be a strong compliment to our core offerings,” said Mani Subramanian, chairman and chief executive officer of Keane.

The sale is pending approval by the court overseeing BearingPoint’s bankruptcy restructuring. It is expected to close by the end of the month.

BearingPoint, of McLean, Va., ranked No. 33 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
