Alion Science and Technology Corp. has won a five-year, $97 million contract to provide the Navy with information technology and other support for its public relations operations.
The Navy Chief of Information (CHINFO) is responsible for coordinating, planning and implementing public affairs policies and programs, visual information services, and community relations efforts for all naval forces, Alion officials said.
Under terms of the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, Alion will support the Navy office with media relations, community outreach, visual information systems, IT support, Web site portal management, and business case analysis development and assessment.
The contractor team will also assist with evolving public affairs requirements by developing strategies and tactical plans, producing communications materials, and supporting community outreach programs and events.
“Our role includes developing and implementing improved processes and technologies, so we will also be able to measure the effectiveness of CHINFO’s communications programs,” said Greg Bryant, senior vice president and manager of the Integration Solutions Group at Alion.
Subcontractors include Delta Resources, the Minor Group and Vox Optima.
Alion, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 39 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
