Unisys will provide IT services to DISA Norfolk command

Unisys Corp. has won an $8.8 million Defense Information Systems Agency contract for information technology support services.

The three-year, firm-fixed-price task order from the Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization calls for Unisys to provide IT support services to the U.S. Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) in Norfolk, Va.

Under this recompete task order, awarded under the DISA Encore II contract, Unisys will assist the command in implementing the Defense Department Joint Net-Centric Data Strategy to make military data more visible, accessible, understandable, trustworthy and interoperable for the military services, combatant commands and major DOD agencies, Unisys officials said.

Unisys also will continue to assist JFCOM in implementing the DOD net-centric data strategy with a particular focus on enhancing the command and control (C2) capabilities of joint military forces.

To do this, Unisys will develop common C2 data-exchange standards, implement a service-oriented architecture based on Web services, build out C2 data models, and analyze business/mission activities, the officials said.

JFCOM is one of 10 combatant commands within the DOD. The command oversees a force of more than 1 million men and women and integrates military capabilities among the various DOD commands and agencies.

Unisys, of Blue Bell, Pa., ranks No. 32 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
