QinetiQ North America provides Navy with computer assistance

QinetiQ North America will provide computer assistance to the Navy under a five-year contract that has a total ceiling value of $4.4 million.

The award, from the Seaport Enhanced contract vehicle, calls for QinetiQ North America’s Systems Engineering Group to provide high-performance computing systems support to the Ship Engineering and Analysis Technology Center (SEATech) in West Bethesda, Md.

SEATech operates advanced computational, networking, visualization and collaborative facilities for use by a wide range of Navy and Defense Department organizations, QinteiQ officials said.

Its computational facilities are designed to handle some of the most difficult naval engineering problems, such as those that involve hydrodynamic and hydroacoustic research, design and engineering, they said.

The company will support SEATech with program and financial management, high-performance computing system administration, network engineering, information management and security, and advanced visualization and collaboration tools.

QinetiQ North America, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 34 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
